My First Year of Learning English: My Experience as a Grade One Student
As a grade one student, I was eager and excited to learn English. It was a new language for me and I knew it would be a challenge. But, with the help of my teacher, classmates, and some hard work, I was able to make progress and learn many new things.
At the beginning of the school year, I felt overwhelmed by the English language. I didn't understand many words and phrases my teacher was saying to me. However, she was patient and kind, helping me to understand what was being said. She would repeat words and phrases until I understood them, and always encouraged me to ask questions when I needed clarification.
In addition to my teacher’s guidance, my classmates were also supportive. Many of them were also learning English for the first time, so they understood the difficulties I was facing. We would help each other with our homework and exchange tips on how to learn English better. We also had fun practicing our English together, by singing songs and playing games.
As the school year progressed, I began to feel more confident in my English skills. I could understand more and more of what my teacher was saying, and I could communicate with my classmates more easily. I also started to enjoy reading English books and watching English TV shows, as these helped me to improve my vocabulary and grammar.
One of the biggest challenges that I faced during my first year of learning English was speaking in front of others. I was shy and nervous about speaking English, especially in front of my teacher and classmates. However, my teacher encouraged me to speak up and practice as much as possible. She would set up group activities and encourage us to speak to each other in English, which helped to build my confidence.
Overall, my first year of learning English was a great experience. I learned so much, and I realized that with hard work, practice, and support from others, I can achieve my goals. Learning a new language can be daunting, but with dedication and perseverance it is possible. I am excited to continue learning English in the years to come, and to see how my skills will improve.
