Exploring My English Learning Journey in 2nd Year of Junior High School
As I look back on my second year of junior high school, I can’t help but smile at all the memories and experiences that came with it. It was a year full of ups and downs, but it was also a year that I devoted much of my time and effort to improving my English language skills.
As a non-native speaker of English, I knew that learning a new language would not be an easy task. But I was determined to work hard and put in the necessary effort to reach my goals. So, at the beginning of the school year, I set myself some specific goals, such as improving my speaking and writing skills and expanding my vocabulary.
To accomplish those goals, I had to be consistent with my studying routine. Every day after school, I would sit down with my textbooks, notebooks, and vocabulary lists and start practicing. I would read articles, listen to podcasts, and watch English movies and TV shows to improve my English listening skills. I would also write and speak in English as much as I could to improve my spoken and written English.
One of the most significant challenges I faced was speaking English. I used to feel shy and afraid of speaking in front of my classmates, especially native speakers. But with constant practice and encouragement from my English teacher, I became more confident and improved my speaking skills. I even participated in English speaking contests, which helped me to overcome my fear of speaking English in public.
Another challenge I faced was writing essays in English. It was challenging, but I knew that the more I practice, the better I would get. My English teacher always encouraged us to write freely and express our ideas clearly. She also corrected our mistakes and gave us feedback on how to improve our writing.
During my second year of junior high school, I also became more aware of the importance of vocabulary in learning English. I started using flashcards and learning new words every day. I also read books and articles written in English to get familiar with the language and learn new words in context. Expanding my vocabulary not only helped me improve my reading and writing skills but also helped me to communicate more effectively in English.
In addition to studying English in school, I also joined an English language club outside of school. The club provided me with the opportunity to practice my English in real-life situations and meet new people who share my interests. We would engage in group discussions, practice our speaking and writing skills, and play English language games.
In conclusion, my second year of junior high school was full of challenges and opportunities that helped me grow and improve my English language skills. Through consistent practice, determination, and hard work, I was able to overcome my fear of speaking English, improve my writing skills, expand my vocabulary, and meet new people who share my interests. I am grateful to have such a supportive teacher and friends who encouraged me throughout my English learning journey, and I am excited to continue improving my English in the years to come.
