My Exciting Adventures as a Second-Year English Student: Diary Entries
Day 1: First Day of School
Today is the first day of my second year as an English student, and I am both excited and nervous. My first class is with Ms. Jackson, who I heard is an amazing teacher. As soon as I walked into class, I felt welcomed by the warm smiles on my classmates' faces. Ms. Jackson started the class by reciting a poem, and I was blown away by her passion for literature. I am looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store for me.
Day 5: Struggling with Grammar
Today, we began our grammar unit, and I quickly realized that grammar is not my strongest skill. Though it is challenging, I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow. Ms. Jackson is an excellent teacher, and she breaks down complex concepts in a way that is easy for me to understand. I am determined to improve my grammar skills by the end of the year.
Day 10: A Field Trip to the Museum
Today, we went on a school field trip to the Museum of Natural History, and it was an incredible experience. I never would have guessed that my English class would take me to a science museum, but it was fascinating to learn about the origins of language and how it has evolved over time. I am grateful for the opportunity to explore different subjects and expand my knowledge.
Day 15: Writing Workshop
Today, we had a writing workshop, and it was my favorite class so far this year. Ms. Jackson gave us a writing prompt, and we had to write a short story. I love storytelling, and it was exciting to put my ideas into words. It was also helpful to receive feedback from my classmates and teacher on how to make my writing stronger. I am excited to continue honing my writing skills throughout the year.
Day 20: Shakespeare Play
Today, we started reading Romeo and Juliet, and it's the first play we have read in class. I was intimidated by the old English language at first, but Ms. Jackson explained the plot and characters in a way that made it easy to understand. I am excited to dive deeper into the play and analyze its themes and messages.
Day 25: Group Project
Today, we started our group project, and it will be a collaborative effort between our English class and the drama class. We have to write and perform a short play, and I am nervous but excited about the challenge. It will be an excellent opportunity to work with my classmates and create something that reflects our creativity and vision.
Day 30: Final Thoughts
As my second year as an English student comes to an end, I am grateful for all the experiences and knowledge I have gained. From learning about grammar to exploring the world of Shakespeare, I have grown as a student and person. I am proud of the work I have accomplished and grateful for the friendships I have made along the way. I can't wait to see what next year holds for me as a third-year English student.
