My Summer Diary: Adventures and Learning during the First Year of High School
As a student entering high school, I was both excited and nervous about what the future held, especially during the summer. However, looking back now, I realize that my first summer as a high school student was an incredible learning experience, both academically and personally. Here's a glimpse into my summer diary:
June 1st - The first day of summer break! Usually, I would spend my days sleeping in, binge-watching my favorite shows, and hanging out with friends, but my parents had another idea. They wanted me to join an English summer camp to improve my language skills, so I started early morning classes.
June 14th - I don't enjoy waking up early, but the English classes were surprisingly fun. I met a bunch of new people from different cultures and was introduced to different English accents, which made me work harder on fluency in communication. I also learned some new grammar rules that I hadn't been familiar with before.
July 3rd - The camp had a field trip today, and we visited an art museum. It was my first time to appreciate such beautiful artwork, and I was surprised to find out that the language that was lacking in my life, Art, could be so diversified and extraordinary.
July 20th - It's been a few weeks since the camp ended and I wanted to make sure that I continued to learn and explore during summer break. I started reading books on different topics, including history, science, and politics.
August 8th - My dad took me on a trip to a nearby city, and we visited a science museum. I learned so much about science and technology that I never knew before, and it made me wonder how much I was missing during the school year. I realized that the quest for learning never stops and I should never stop exploring.
August 25th - Back to school shopping for the upcoming year started today. I got new clothes and books, but most importantly, I had a newfound appreciation for learning.
Overall, my summer was filled with adventures, knowledge and unexpected undertakings, despite the initial resistance. The most valuable lesson I learned was that learning does not stop when school is out, and it is always possible to further one's knowledge and understanding by exploring the world around us. I look forward to exploring more in the coming years, both in and out of the classroom.
