My Exciting English Learning Journey during the Summer Vacation of Grade 7
During the summer vacation of grade 7, I decided to take a proactive approach towards learning English. After all, it was a subject that I found quite challenging and intimidating during regular school hours. Thus, instead of letting my time go to waste, I decided to embark on an exciting English learning journey that kept me engaged, informed and intrigued throughout.
The first step that I took was to subscribe to YouTube channels dedicated to teaching English to beginners. It turned out to be a great decision as the videos were engaging, easy to understand, and helped me grasp the concepts better. The videos introduced basic grammar rules, vocabulary words and helped me get familiar with English pronunciation. The best part was the gamification aspect of such channels that made learning more interactive, fun and educational.
Apart from videos, I also subscribed to newsletters and online blogs that were written in plain English. These platforms kept me up-to-date with the latest news and helped me read English text with ease. This aspect was crucial as English wasn't my first language, and my reading skills needed improvement.
Next, I downloaded a language learning app, which allowed me to practice writing, listening and speaking English on the go. Rather than spending hours in front of a screen, I could utilize my phone to learn English wherever and whenever I wanted. The app gamified the learning experience, providing me with rewards and points, which kept me motivated to learn and improve.
Moreover, I read books in English, starting with simple children's storybooks and gradually progressing to more complex works. Initially, it was challenging to understand complex sentences and new words, but with perseverance, concentration and help from a dictionary, I slowly started to comprehend the text and found myself enjoying the process.
Finally, I practiced English with native speakers, through online platforms, and pen pal letters. These interactions sharpened my listening and speaking skills, and I was able to have meaningful conversations with people from different parts of the world.
My exciting English learning journey during the summer vacation of grade 7 was undoubtedly one of the best decisions I made. By embracing a proactive approach towards learning, I developed my grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills, and most importantly, learned to enjoy the English language. Going forward, I will continue to explore different methods of learning, including music, movies and theater, which I believe will help me with my journey of lifelong learning.
